Some 1,3-dialkoylexanthin-specific congeners have high potency and selectivity as adenosine A1 and A2 receptor antagonists, and may be linked to investigative substances, drug excipients, or substrates solid. These derivatives are characterized by the presence of a phenyl parasubstituted in the 8th position with a chain with a specific function to give a high solubility in water and a high affinity for the receptors. Some of these analogs, containing a distal chain with specific amine or carboxylic function, are useful for synthesizing amino acid compounds. The compounds of this invention are useful as antiallergic, asthma or cardiotonic drugs, as stimulants of the central nervous system, and as diuretics. |
