A process for the preparation of monomers, especially monomers of aromatic esters, comprises reacting a stannous compound generally having the formulas (I) or (II), in which A1 is generally an aromatic group and A3 is in general an aromatic group or a hydrogen atom, with a second compound, in general an acid chloride or a di (acid chloride). The stannous compound and the second compound react to remove the Bu3SnCl compound and form an aromatic ester monomer. Some new monomers can be prepared by this process. |
