titleOfInvention Probe for determining the concentration of electrolytes
abstract To determine electrolyte concentrations in aqueous solutions u. a. Ion-selective electrodes are used, these are electrodes whose ion-selective layer only allows certain ions to pass through. The potential difference that results is a measure of the electrolyte concentration in the sample. In medical applications in particular, it is disadvantageous that these electrodes are relatively large, that the electrolyte bridge is prone to malfunction, and that a reference electrode is required.n n n To avoid these disadvantages, a potential-sensitive fluorescence indicator is attached to the ion-selective layer, the fluorescence intensity of which is measured and used to determine the electrolyte concentration.
