titleOfInvention Process for the biotechnological preparation of optically active alpha-arylalkanoic acids
abstract The present invention concerns the preparation of S(+) alpha -aryl-alkanoic acids through reacting a racemic ester (R,S) of the formula: n<CHEM>n wherein:n R represents a -C IDENTICAL CH, -CH=CH2, -CN, -COCH3, -COO alk or CH2-O-alk group where the alkyl group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms;n Ar represents an aryl or an aryl substituted or condensed with other groups, in particular a group of the formula: n<CHEM>n wherein:n R min is a C1-C8 alkyl; a C1-C4 alkenyl, an alcoxy; a phenyl, a phenoxy, a tenoyl, a heterocycle.n R sec is hydrogen or halogen;n R''' is a C1-C4 alkyl,n with an esterase, produced by microorganisms capable of selectively hydrolysing the S(+) form of said racemic ester and successively separating the S(+) acid from the unreacted ester.
