Analogues of human interferon alpha 2 in which an amino acid is present in at least one position selected from interferon alpha 2 positions 12-16, 21, 27-32, 37, 43a, 44, 59, 61, 64, 67, 98-115,137-138 and 148 which differs from the amino acid in the corresponding position of interferon alpha 2 , possess good antiviral activity and may additionally be used as biochemical tools. The interferon analogues are prepared by culturing a microorganism, the microorganism having been transformed with a replicable plasmidic expression vehicle comprising genetic material coding for the said interferon analogue. |
