abstract A liquid, essentially anhydrous solution of hydrogen peroxide in at least one organic solvent is employed in therapeutic and cosmetic formulations. The solution contains from 1 to 20 weight percent hydrogen peroxide and less than 1 weight percent water. The therapeutic formulation can be used in the treatment of acne, dermatoses, ulcers and in the lightening and disinfection of the skin. The cosmetic formulations can be used in the bleaching or oxidation dyeing of hair or in the neutralization stage of a permanent wave operation or in the straightening of hair.
