Process for the production of paper with high dry strength by successively adding (A) water-soluble cationic polymers and (B) water-soluble homopolymers of ethylenically unsaturated C3 to C5 carboxylic acids and / or copolymers of (a) 35 to 99% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated C3 and C5 carboxylic acids, (b) 65 to 1% by weight of an amide, nitrile and / or ester of an ethylenically unsaturated C3 to C5 carboxylic acid and (c) 0 to 15% by weight of styrene or a C1 to C4 Alkyl vinyl ether for paper stock and dewatering of the paper stock with sheet formation. Compared to the prior art, an increase in the dry strength of the paper and an improved drainage and retention of fiber and fillers are achieved. |
