abstract Methods and compositions enable the efficient production of a polypeptide product whose biological activity corresponds to that of a natural activator of human connective tissue, peptide-III (CTAP-III), and of its degradation products, such than beta-thromboglobulin. A synthetic gene encoding the CTAP-III polypeptide is coupled to a sequence of signals for processing and guiding secretion, derived from the yeast alpha factor. The resulting DNA construction makes it possible to obtain the expression and the secretion of the genetic product from the yeast. It then becomes possible to obtain a higher yield of product from the nutrient medium.
