The new quaternary alkylamidobetaine esters are described by the general formula (I) in which the substituents have the following meaning: R 1 , R 5 = independently of one another (C 12 -C 30 ) alkyl or (C 12 -C 30 ) alkenyl; R 2 = H or CH 3 ; R 3 , R "= independently of one another (C 1 -C 3 ) alkyl; y = an integer from 0 to 10 and x = 1 or 2. In a process for the preparation of these compounds, the mixture is heated, optionally in the presence of an organic solvent ( eg an alcohol), ω-dialkylamino (alkoxy) propylamide of fatty acids of the general formula (II) with chloroalkanoic acid esters of fatty alcohols of the general formula (III) n n n These compounds are preferably used in liquid fabric softening agents which are present as a solution or dispersion, and - in addition to the advantage of a soft feel to the laundry treated therewith - are distinguished by particularly good dissolving and dispersing properties, so that more concentrated settings can also be produced. |
