Novel reduction compositions for reducing the bisulfide bonds of keratin include a reducing agent capable of regeneration, such as an iodide salt, a ferrocyanide salt, a bromide salt and an antimony tartrate salt (III ), capable of reducing the bisulfide bonds of keratin, in combination with a consumable reducing agent, such as a salt or an ester of thyoglycolic acid, or a salt of sulfite, bisulfite, hydrosulfite, metabisulfite or sulfoxylate. The consumable reducing agent is capable of regenerating the reducing agent capable of regenerating by reducing the oxidized form of the latter. The invention also relates to neutralizing compositions compatible with these reduction compositions, as well as methods for waving or straightening animal hair or fur permanently. |
