titleOfInvention Process for recovering molybdenum-99 from a target of an irradiated uranium alloy
The invention relates to a process for recovering molybdenum-99 from a target of irradiated uranium alloy. This process includes the following successive steps a) - dissolve the target of irradiated uranium alloy in sulfuric acid, b) - separating the iodine and the tellurium present in the solution thus obtained, c) - oxidize the molybdenum-99 present in the solution to Mo (VI), and d) - extract the molybdenum-99 thus oxidized with a hydroxamic acid of formula: in which R is a radical chosen from the group comprising linear or branched alkyl radicals, the phenyl radical, the phenyl radicals substituted by at least one alkyl radical, the aryl-alkyl radicals and the cyclohexyl radical, and R 'is an atom d hydrogen or an alkyl radical.n n n The hydroxamic acid can be tri n-butytecétohydroxamic acid, the molybdenum recovered can be used in a technetium generator for medical uses.
