abstract The present invention relates to novel N-(alkoxyphenyl) nphthalimides conforming to the structure n nwherein X is a halogen atom, R is a C₁-C₄ alkyl, g is 1 to 5, n is nan integer of from 0 to 4, m is either 0 or 1 and p is either 0 or n1. The phthalimide thus disclosed was found to be suitable nas a flame retarding additive for thermoplastic molding ncompositions, especially compositions comprising polycar­nbonate resins.
