titleOfInvention | Method for producing benzoic acid derivatives |
abstract | Benzoic acid derivatives of the formula:n wherein R 1 is a lower alkyl group, R 3 is -COOH or a group of the formula:n (wherein n is an integar of 2 to 4, and R 4 and R 5 independently are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group or they form, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, a heterocyclic ring) and X is a halogen atom, and of the formula:n wherein X, n, R 4 and R 5 are of the same meanings as defined above, which have excellent antiasthmatic and antiinflammatory actions and are useful in the treatment of asthma or inflammatory diseases, can be advantageously produced by subjecting a corresponding aldehyde compound to oxidation or by subjecting corresponding starting compounds to condensation. |
