abstract This invention provides a material for contact lenses comprising a polymer having 10 to 100 5 by weight of a structural unit represented by the formulan whereinn R is (̵fCH 2 ) 1 R 1 or (̵CH 2 ) m (CF 2 ) n CFZ 1 Z 2 in which R' is oxygen-containing fluoroalkyl, Z 1 and Z 2 are the same or different and each hydrogen, fluorine or fluoroalkyl, 1 is an integer of 1 to 5, m is an integer of 1 to 4 and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 10, 0 to 60% by weight of a structural unit represented by the formulan wherein R 2 is lower alkyl, and 0 to 80% by weight of a structural unit represented by the formulan wherein X is hydroxyl or carboxyl and p is an integer of 1 to 5.
