Process for the preparation of structured latex particles provided with a core and shell region, said latex particles being film-forming at room temperature by adjusting the feed rates of the coat monomer supplies, so that the envelope weight fraction increases the feed rate of an acrylate and / or a monovinyl monomer or that the core monomer supply of a monovinyl aromatic monomer is reduced, an envelope region surrounding the core region. Also described are structured latex particles prepared in accordance with this process. Films based on the present structured latex particles where the envelope monomer feed is methyl methacrylate or a similar high Tg monomer have good film strength. In addition, films based on the present structured latex in which the envelope monomer feed is butyl acrylate or similar monomers with water impermeability characteristics have improved corrosion resistance properties. |
