titleOfInvention | Method of manufacturing a microporous article. |
abstract | Process for the preparation of an article from a mixture of at least two molecularly compatible polymers, by treating the mixture with a solvent which dissolves one of the polymers but not the other. The solvent can be removed while preventing the article from undergoing substantial shrinkage, thereby obtaining a microporous article. Alternatively, the solvent can be removed while the article is allowed to shrink. This results in an intense shrinking force (also called recovery force) which can be used to apply the article to a substrate. The final articles and the intermediate articles are new. In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides a microporous article having an average pore size of between about 0.005 microns and about 1 micron. |
