Die neuen Verbindungen weisen feine Holz- bzw. Sandelholzduftnoten auf und können als Riechstoffe sowie als Bestandteile von Riechstoffkompositionen verwendet werden. p-Alkoxy-cyclohexyl-alkanoe and their esters of the general formula I in the R 'is a C, - to C 7 -alkyl radical, in particular one tert-butyl radical or a cycloalkyl radical, R 2 for a C 1 to C 3 alkyl group, in particular a methyl or ethyl group and R 3 represents hydrogen, an acetyl, propionyl or butyryl radical, and fragrance compositions containing these compounds I and processes for their preparation. The new compounds have fine wood or sandalwood fragrance notes and can be used as fragrances and as components of fragrance compositions.
