abstract It has hitherto been customary to manually push a roller cage over the gearwheel during the machining of workpieces, such as the internal cylindrical grinding of gearwheels. The clamping jaws of the chuck had the workpiece firmly in place by interposing the rollers of the roller cage. The time-consuming process of installing the roller cage is no longer necessary thanks to a retaining ring (4) inserted into the chuck. The retaining ring (4) has window openings in the area of the clamping jaws (1) and firmly installed roller cage-like segments in this area. Insertion aids (9) on the retaining ring (4) enable quick and safe workpiece changes.
