Extra-chromosomal ribosomal DNA (rDNA) can be used as a vector for the introduction of a foreign gene into eukaryotic cells. The present invention relates to eukaryotic hybrid vectors comprising an extra-chromosomal rDNA or functional fragments thereof and to a foreign structural gene coding for a polypeptide, as well as to methods for their preparation, characterized in that that a foreign structural gene encoding a polypeptide and optionally additional DNA sequences are introduced in vitro or in vivo into extra-chromosomal rDNA or functional fragments thereof. Also described are a eukaryotic cell transformed with a hybrid vector and methods of preparation thereof, characterized in that a transformable eukaryotic cell is treated with the hybrid eukaryotic vector under transformation conditions. |
