Hair care products containing quaternary ammonium compounds of the general formula in which R 1 is an n-alkyl group with 12-16 C atoms, R 2 is an n-alkyl group with 1-4 C atoms, R 3 is a hydroxyalkyl group with 2-4 C atoms and R 4 is an n-alkyl group with 1 -4 C atoms or a hydroxyalkyl group with 2-4 C atoms and A is an acid anion with the valence n, have good conditioning and conditioning effects. Aqueous solutions of these quaternary ammonium compounds can be thickened well with simple salts. Shampoos containing anionic surfactants can contain such quaternary ammonium compounds in a clear solution up to an amount of 50% by weight of the anionic surfactant. |
