abstract A stable repellent olfactory composition effective for the repulsion of wild and domestic animals consists essentially of microcapsules comprising bitter sagebrush oil encapsulated by a material compatible with the oil and impermeable to it but permeable to the vapors emitted by oil; articles consisting of a manufactured item impregnated or incorporating bitter sagebrush oil in an amount sufficient to repel pests; and a repulsion method comprising the use of bitter sagebrush oil.
