Synthetic thickener preparations made from a hydrophilic polyacrylate must be mixed with a hydrophobic, thermoplastic synthetic resin based on polyvinyl acetate before they can be used for the production of emulsion paints for thermal transfer printing. This mixing process of two products with opposite properties is difficult to control and therefore often leads to complaints. According to the invention, it has now been found that these difficulties can be remedied and an easy-to-use, storage-stable thickener is obtained for the same use if, instead of the hydrophilic polyacrylate, the thermoplastic synthetic resin component of the mixture is prepared with a hydrophobic acrylic acid ester / methacrylic acid copolymer. |
