titleOfInvention | Novolac based epoxy resin curing agents for use in aqueous systems |
abstract | The instant invention is an epoxy resin curing agent based upon an epoxy novolac containing, on the average, between about and 7.5 epoxy groups per molecule, in which substantially all of the epoxide groups are reacted with a polyamine wherein each primary amine hydrogen in the resulting reaction product is further reacted with a monoepoxide or a monocarboxylic acid. The resulting epoxy resin curing agent may be used in a water based system for curing epoxide resins. The curing agent is rendered water soluble or water dispersible by salting with a conventional volatile monocarboxylic acid such as acetic, formic or propionic acid. |
