abstract | Process for preparing tiles or slabs with improved density, free from defects, chemical and mechanical resistance and service life, for use as aluminum wettable cathode surfaces for reduction cells aluminum. A mixture of hard refractory material, carbonaceous filler, carbonaceous additive and a thermosetting binder system is subjected to a vacuum during its mixing to obtain a specified penetration depth as measured by the ASTM C 360-63 standard. The mixed composition is then molded, polymerized and fired to form elements having the desired configuration. |
