| abstract |
The double sulfate of 1-deoxy- (5-hydroxy-tryptamino) -D-fructose (DFS) and 1-methyl-hydantoin-2-imide (creatinine) constitutes a new crystallized solid phase of unitary composition, of pharmaceutical quality and remarkable stability.n n n It is prepared by glycosylation of serotonin with D-glucose, formation of the double salt by addition of sulfuric acid and creatinine and crystallization of the latter in the presence of ethanol.n n n Preferably, the DFS is isolated from the reaction medium via the DFS ยท Ca (OH) 2 addition complex, precipitated by the addition of calcium hydroxide. The calcium hydroxide is then removed by adding sulfuric acid and the double salt crystallized as above.n n n DFS is the active ingredient in an effective medication, especially for the treatment of leprosy. |
