titleOfInvention | Treatment of subterranean formations |
abstract | A method of treating a subterranean formation, which comprises forming a stabilised gel by mixing an aqueous fluid with a hydratable polymer having a molecular weight in excess of about 100,000 and present in an amount of at least about 10 pounds per 1000 gallons (1.2 kg per m3) of aqueous fluid, to form a base gel; and then mixing the base gel with an amino-alkyl sulfonic acid or salt of the general formula:orwherein A and B are each independently an alkyl group containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms or an aryl group or derivative thereof, n is from about 2 to about 18,is a five to nine member cyclic radical comprising one to three ring nitrogen atoms, zero to two ring oxygen atoms and the remainder of the ring being carbon atoms, and X is hydrogen or any element having a positive charge capable of forming a water soluble salt of said amino-alkyl sulfonic acid, in an amount of at least about 1 pound per 100 gallons (0.12 kg per m3) of aqueous fluid, to stabilize said base gel; and then introducing said stabilized gel into said subterranean formation at a flow rate and pressure such as to effect a treatment of said subterranean fornation. |
