abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of the aza-5 ind ole of formula: <IMAGE> process according to which the methyl-3-nitro-4 pyridine-1- is condensed in a solvent or in the absence of solvent oxide of formula: <IMAGE> with a compound of general formula: R1 - ?? - R in which R represents a dimethylamino, diethylamino, dipropylamino, dibutylamino, morpholino, piperidino or pyrrolidino and R1 and R2 group, which are identical or different, each represent a methoxy, ethoxy or propoxy group or a group R as defined above, to obtain an enamine of general formula: <IMAGE> in which R has the same value as previously then a reduction in cyclization by hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst to obtain the desired aza-5 indole.
