titleOfInvention | Clinical chemistry analyzer |
abstract | A clinical chemistry analyzer system (10) determines the concentration of selected chemicals in somatic fluids, for example whole blood, serum or urine. The system includes a disposable detection device (12) for single use, having a cavity for collecting and retaining samples of the somatic fluid. At least one selective species detector (16A, 16B) and one reference detector (16E) are exposed inside the cavity to come into contact with the somatic fluid sample. The selective species detector (16A-16B) and the reference detector (16E) are connected to a measurement section of an analyzer (14) by inserting the detection device into a receptacle (24) of the 'analyzer (14). The measurement section measures a signal from the selective species detector (16A-16B) and the reference detector (16E) which is a function of the concentration of the chemical species chosen in the sample. Another section of the analyzer (14) then determines the concentration of the chemical species selected in the sample based on the measured signal; the concentration is then displayed and printed. |
