titleOfInvention Improved flameproofing composition
abstract Polymer systems can be rendered flame retardant by adding a source of halogen and particles of antimony pentoxide that have been dried from colloidal dispersions that have been pH adjusted. The properties of the polymer are conserved when the pH of the colloidal dispersion is adjusted to between about 7.5 and 10 prior to drying. The pH should be adjusted with an alkaline matprial that forms a water-insoluble antimonate with antimony oxide.
