The invention relates to a process for the preparation of acyloxybenzenesulfonic acids and their alkali and alkaline earth metal salts by sulfonation of phenol in the presence of a small amount of a complexing agent for the sulfonating agent So 3 or chlorosulfonic acid, subsequent esterification and optionally neutralization to the alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt. |
