An absorbent product comprising a water insoluble, water swellable absorbent for aqueous fluids in particulate form dispersed in an inert organic vehicle is described. Typical absorbents include acrylate polymers, acrylate polymer modified polysaccharides, cross-linked carboxymethylcellulose, cross-linked poly(alkylene oxides) and certain gum blends. The vehicles include oils, liquid resins, liquid rubbers and liquid polyalkenes, glycol ethers and higheralcohols. The product may be employed alone or on a substrate. |
