abstract A process is provided for preparing sodium alkanoyloxy­nbenzene sulfonate by the reaction of anhydrous sodium nphenol sulfonate with an alkanoylhalide in the substantial nabsence of solvent or inert reaction medium. The sodium nalkanoyloxybenzene sulfonates are useful in detergents.
