Glycerol derivatives of the general formula: n n[wherein A represents an oxygen atom or a carbonyloxy ngroup (wherein the carbonyl group should be attached to a group nR³ and the oxa group should be attached to the carbon atom at the nthird position of the glycerol skeleton), R¹ represents an alkyl ngroup of 6 to 22 carbon atoms, or an alkyl group of 2 to 5 carbon natoms being substituted by a phenyl group, R² represents a nhydroxy group, an amino group, an azido group, an alkyl group of n1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an nalkenyl group of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkenyloxy group of 3 to n20 carbon atoms, or a group of the formula: n n-OCOR⁵,-OCONHR⁵,-NHCOR⁵,-NHCOOR⁵ nor NHCONHR⁵, in which R⁴ represents a hydrogen atom, a nhalogen atom, an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkoxy ngroup of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R⁵ represents an alkyl group of 1 nto 10 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, R³ represents an alkylene ngroup of 1 to 12 carbon atoms ans -N represents a nheterocyclic group, with the proviso that, when A represents the ncarbonyloxy group, R² does not represent an amino group], and nnon-toxic acid addition salts thereof, possess antagonistic effect non PAF, hypotensive effect like PAF, inhibitory effect on phosnpholipase and inhibitory effect on growth of tumour cell or ninduction of differentiation, and are, therefore, useful as a platelet naggregation inhibitor, anti-asthmatic agent, anti-allergic agent, nanti-inflammatory agent, hypotensive agent and anti-tumour nagent for mammals. |
