abstract The present invention relates to new hydroxyethyl azole derivatives, several processes for their preparation and their use as fungicides.n n n The compounds of the formula in which R ', X and Z have the meaning given in the description,n n n are obtained, for example, by heating hydroxyethyl azolylacetal derivatives in an aqueous organic medium in the presence of an acid; there are also other processes for producing the various derivatives.n n n The compounds are suitable as crop protection agents and in particular have a good action against phytopathogenic fungi in cereals, fruit and rice cultivation.
