Production of livestock or products derived therefrom |
abstract |
©7 Agricultural production of livestock or milk is enhanced by manipulating the hormone balance of a mother animal to divert her metabolism away from maternal tissue production. To enhance offspring production, and offspring producing mother animal is immunised with a conjugate of a hormone having an anabolic action on maternal tissue production. To enhance milk production, a reproductive female mammal is immunised with a conjugate of a hormone antagonistic to the effects of growth hormone. In each instance, insulin is the preferred conjugated hormone. |
