titleOfInvention Novel grinding mixture and process for preparing a slurry therefrom
abstract New grinding mixture useful in the preparation of a solid-liquid mud. This grinding mixture contains from 60 to 82% by volume of carbonaceous material (such as coal and / or coke), from 18 to 40% by volume of a carrier liquid (such as water and / or oil), and from 0.01 to 4.0% by weight of a dispersing agent. The grinding mixture has a pH of between 7 and 12. The grinding mixture comprises at least two compositions. From 2 to 50% by weight approximately of the particles in the grinding mixture have an average particle size of between 0.5 and 40 microns, and from 50 to 98% by weight approximately of the particles of the mixture have a size exceeding 40 microns. A method of preparing a liquid-solid slurry is also described, in which the grinding mixture is ground until a slurry is obtained whose particle size distribution conforms to the specified "CPFT" formula.
