abstract |
Four wave mixer using a multiple quantum well structure (516) as a nonlinear optical material. Organs (502) produce a first light ray (508) which propagates through the structure of the multiple quantum well (516), and other organs produce a second light ray which also propagates through the structure of the multiple quanta wells and substantially overlaps the first light ray within the MQW structure. At least one conjugate light ray of output phase is produced by the interaction of the first and second light rays with the multiple quantum well structure. Another embodiment has two reverse propagated pumped rays and a probe light ray which produce a conjugate light ray of backscattered phase. |
