Compounds of the general formula I <IMAGE> are described in which L = H or CO (R¹) n (CX3) m, M = alkylene, alkenylene or arylene, Q = S, Se, O, dialkylmethylene, alkene-1,2 -ylene, 1,2-phenylene or NR, where M + Q together form 3 or 4 ring members, R = alkyl, aralkyl or alkoxyalkyl, R¹ is an aromatic group, X = Cl, Br or J and n = 0 and m = 1 or n = 1 and m = 1 or 2. When exposed, the compounds split off HX and form radicals. They are therefore highly effective acid donors and radical initiators for photochemical processes. |
