titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of polymers of ethylene with a silicic acid xerogel/chromium trioxide catalyst
abstract Framework is a process for the production of ethylene homopolymers and ethylene copolymers with α-monoolefins using a silica xerogel / chromium trioxide catalyst which is obtained. if (1) a silica xerogel is first prepared by (1.1) starting from a silica hydrogel which is spherical and is obtained by (1.1.1) introducing a glass of water solution into a mineral acid stream with swirl, ( 1.1.2) the resulting silicic acid hydrosol is sprayed in drops, (1.1.3) the hydrosol solidifies in the spray to form the hydrogel and (1.1.4) frees the hydrogel from salts, (1.2) from the hydrogel using an alkanol or alkanone the water is extracted, (1.3) the dehydrated gel dries (xerogel formation) and (1.4) the xerogel is crushed, (2) then the xerogel is loaded with chromium trioxide or a chromium compound which converts into chromium trioxide, and (3) finally the loaded xerogel in oxygen containing gas stream heated. A characteristic is that in addition to the catalyst, a dialkyl aluminum alkoxide is used as the cocatalyst.
