abstract |
There is described human calcitonin gene related peptide. A peptide of the structure is prepared either by chemical synthesis or by the use of recombinant DNA techniques. The peptide has potent biological activity on the cardiovascular function and it is described for use as a pharmaceutical in the treatment of hypertension. A pharmaceutical composition including the peptide is described either as an injectable composition or in a slow release system. Reagents for use in the immunoassay of the peptide are described as is a DNA hybridisation probe for use in an assay for a nucleotide coding for the peptide. |
