A process for the preparation of an amine from an olefin and ammonia or a primary or secondary amine at from 80 to 400 degrees C and under from 40 to 700 bar in the presence of a zeolite catalyst, wherein a monounsaturated or polyunsaturated olefin of 2 to 10 carbon atoms or a mixture thereof is reacted with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine, or a mixture thereof, in the presence of a borosilicate or borogermanate zeolite of the pentasil type as catalyst, the resulting amine is isolated, and the unreacted starting materials are recycled.
