titleOfInvention | WATER-DISPERSIBLE BINDING AGENTS FOR CATIONIC ELECTRO-DIP COATINGS AND METHOD FOR THEIR PRODUCTION. |
abstract | Water-dispersible binders for cationic electrophoretic lacquers, obtained by the reaction of A) epoxy resins of low molecular weight, containing aromatic groups and of epoxy equivalent weight less than 375 with B) polyfunctional aliphatic alcohols and/or alicyclic or carbonic acids of average molecular weight of less than 350, by further reaction of the reaction product of (A) and (B) with C) a polyfunctional alcohol of molecular weight greater than 350 with addition of epoxy groups such that the reaction products of (A) and (B) contain between 10 and 45% by weight of aromatic groups, counted as phenyl groups, and by further modification of the intermediate product obtained thanks to D) primary and/or secondary amines or ammonium salts to achieve the required water dispersibility. As component (C), the binders contain between 5 and 40% by weight, based on the whole binder, of a linear polyalkylene ether diol having in the middle a primary hydroxyl group at the end of the chain and a secondary hydroxyl group at the end of the chain. end of chain per molecule and of general formula (I), where n is from 1 to 4, preferably 1, and m is from 4 to 35, preferably from 5 to 20. |
