Trihalomethane precursor removal using ion exchange emulsions |
abstract |
To avoid formation of toxic trihalomethanes in drinking waters disinfected with halogens these waters are treated with 1 to 25 mg/1 of submicroscopic ion exchange resin particles having an average particle diameter less than 1.5 µm, optionally in the presence of a metal salt coagulant, to remove the trihalomethane precursors prior to halogenation. |
