titleOfInvention Protection of plants against frost injury using ice nucleation-inhibiting species-specific bacteriophages
abstract Frost sensitive plants are protected from frost damage by topical application of virulent non-phytotoxic bacteriophages which are species specific to the ice crystal forming bacteria normally present on plants. Bacteriophages selectively attack ice crystal forming bacteria and inhibit their ice crystal forming activity, thereby lowering the temperature at which frost damage occurs.
