Process for preparing catalyst, by kneading and/or impregnation which comprises 3-60 pbw cobalt and 0.1-100 pbw of zirconium, titanium and/or chromium per 100 pbw silica and/or alumina and which has such L and S as to satisfy the relationn wherein L = total quantity of cobalt present on catalyst (mg Co/m)), S = the surface area of catalyst m 2 /ml, and R = weight ratio of cobalt deposited on catalyst by kneading to total quantity of cobalt on catalyst. n Catalyst is suitable for synthesis of hydrocarbons from synthesis gas. |
