titleOfInvention | BLOCK COPOLYMERS OBTAINED BY CROSSLINKING BY RADIATION OF A MISCIBLE MIXTURE OF HOMOPOLYMERS. |
abstract | The process described here comprises crosslinking by radiation of a miscible mixture of two or more homopolymers such as A and B, etc., making it possible to obtain a block copolymer having one or more blocks of A and one or more blocks of B This method has the advantage of carrying out crosslinking between blocks at such a rapid rate that most of the crosslinking is carried out before phase separation occurs. In addition, the process can be modified by crosslinking stimulating agents and also by agents increasing compatibility so as to obtain an improved miscibility of homopolymers A and B. Other modifications of the process introduce improvements, either by centrifugal separation of high molecular weight gelled products either by fractionation of high molecular weights or by fractionation of molecular weights of such a gelled portion by mechanical shearing or by ultrasonic treatment. The product of the present invention is indicated for a multiplicity of applications, such as for example in adhesive and coating compositions, in molding compositions, in agents increasing compatibility, etc. |
