titleOfInvention Transducer for measuring the systolic blood pressure of laboratory animals
abstract The invention relates to a sensor for determining the systolic blood pressure in experimental animals, in particular for detecting the blood pressure pulse in the tail arteries of animals such. B. rats. It consists of a longitudinally slotted tube (1) made of an elastic or flexible and resilient material, which preferably has a material weakening (3) opposite the longitudinal slit (2). At the location of the material weakening (3), an electro-mechanical transducer element (4), preferably made of piezoelectric material, is attached to the outside of the tube (1), expediently embedded in elastic material. This sensor is used e.g. B. pushed onto the rat tail, the volume changes caused by the blood pressure pulsation in the area of material weakening (3) cause a bending, which is converted by the transducer element (4) into an electrical, for measurement and registration purposes via the cable (6, 7) derivable signal becomes. In a preferred embodiment, which is easy to produce with the aid of a casting process, the tube (1) is made of plastic and has a thickening made of the same material, in which the transducer element (4) provided with the required electrically conductive connections is embedded.
