titleOfInvention | Process for recovery of amine from spent acid stripping liquor |
abstract | According to Figure 1, an amine supply is effected through the line (10), and a flow of a base through the line (12) to arrive in the still vessel of a distillation column. (14). Amines which form an azeotrope with water in a distillate stream (18) are removed from column (14). Most of the water and salt formed as a by-product in the bottom of the column (14) are extracted through the outlet (22). An overhead stream (18) is then cooled in a heat exchanger (24). For amines which do not form aqueous azeotropes and have a substantially lower boiling point than water, the distillate (28) is the product amine stream. For amines whose boiling points are lower than that of water and which form an azeotrope with water, the stream in line (28) passes through a separation zone (32) making it possible to obtain by settling two phases. The upper phase rich in amines is extracted from the separator (32) via the line (36) and then passes into an intermediate feed distillation column (38). The still bottom of the column (38) is heated by heating means (42). A small portion of amine product is also withdrawn from the heating section of the distillation column (38) through line (47). The overhead azeotrope distillate (44) is cooled in the heat exchanger (48), the azeotrope stream (54) extracted from the heat exchanger (48) can be recycled to the column (38) through the line (56) or can be recycled via line (58) to the separation zone (32). |
