Aqueous stable magnesium hydroxide suspensions which are dispersible in oil |
abstract |
An aqueous oil-dispersible stable magnesium hydroxide suspension comprises a mixture of (a) a 33 to 60, preferably 50 to 60, % by weight of an aqueous slurry or paste of magnesium hydroxide; and (b) an alkyl benzene sulfonate emulsifier. Such a suspension is prepared by mixing (a) a 33 to 60, preferably 50 to 60, % by weight aqueous slurry or magnesium hydroxide; with (b) an alkyl benzene sulfonate emulsifier. n Corrosion is inhibited in fuel-burning boilers by adding to the fuel a corrosion inhibiting amount of an aqueous stable magnesium hydroxide suspension as defined above. |
