abstract Sulphenyl nitromethane derivatives of formula:n in which R 1 represents an alkyl group or a cycloalkyl-alkyl group; and R 2 represents an alkyl group optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or an aryl group optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or by one or more alkyl or alkoxy groups, exhibit pesticidal, in particular insecticidal activity. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding nitromethylene carboxylate with a sulphenyl halide R 2 - S - Hal in the presence of a base.
